March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month
Lifestyles for the Disabled is dedicated to improving opportunities for developmentally disabled adults in Staten Island, New York. Our respite program allows them to relax, pursue their interests, tend to other responsibilities, and much more. Meanwhile, participants are cared for by qualified, well-trained staff while they enjoy a range of unique experiences at our location and in the broader community.
Join our team of volunteers and make a difference in your community. Whether you can give a few hours a week or a few hours a month, your time and skills are appreciated.
We host various events throughout the year, including fundraisers, community outreach events, and educational seminars. Check out our calendar to see what's coming up.
Stay up-to-date on all the latest news and happenings at LFD SI by following us on social media. We're active on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Participants 21 years and older can attend these overnight experiences while supervised by qualified staff. The group stays in a hotel or resort and enjoys all the local area has to offer. Past trips have included a Dude Ranch, Villa Roma, and Hershey. The overnight trips are in-state and, at times, out-of-state.
Summer Day Camp is a unique opportunity for high school students to explore their local community during their summer break for two weeks in August, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, with transportation provided to and from. Such activities have included bowling, local zoos, Medieval Times, and Liberty Science museums, just to name a few.
